My Crown Prince and I attended the over-crowded 8am church service at the Grace Family Church in my home village Christmas morning. Having been nearly blown away by the introductory music - which is so loud and almost shouted out - blow me down with a feather - the message came, entitled - WHAT’S IN A NAME?
Could the pastor, Mark, have read my blog? His theme - the good old-fashioned faerytale - obviously featuring the star-crossed lovers or TWIN SOULS - Romeo and Juliet and their not so happily ever after!!!! His point being the importance of a name - Jesus!
From the Songs of Isaiah!
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace,
Of the increase of his government and
Peace
There will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
And over his kingdom,
Establishing and upholding it
With justice and righteousness
This was written on the screens from another Bible version - other than the NIV and said it all a little differently - the important part being that the last part……..

The pamphlet reads:

It comes from Matthew chapter 12 and the verse says,
His name shall be called the hope of the world.
The rest of the passage connects hope to justice, and from a biblical view, hope is about everything will be OK and, justice will prevail. UNQUOTE
Leaving the church became something of a nightmare - having left the faerytale and the happily ever after behind - and the hope that the new President of the ANC Jacob Zuma will be OK - the congregation needs policing to get out the parking lot and to OBEY THE RULES OF THE ROAD!
Yes, in order for the next bunch of believers to arrive on time for the 9,30am service the Metro Police were called to dutifully insist, by carefully placed orange cones at the entrance, that all believers TURN LEFT and DO NOT CROSS OVER THE SOLID WHITE LINE AND TURN RIGHT TO GO INTO THE VILLAGE (thus endangering the lives of on-coming motorists and their own) AND ensuring a more steady flow of traffic - making it QUICKER for us all to get away!!!
Self-governance and the decision to do what is right has not yet hit home!!!
What will happen when the last part of the song of Isaiah takes precedence -
Establishing and upholding (His kingdom) with justice and righteousness….
